Book Across the Bay 2005 Community Grant Recipients

Last year (2005) was the first year of our grant program, and we are pleased to have given the following grants in that year:

• Ashland-Bayfield County Healthy Families: $2,000 to support a family literacy program for families in Ashland and Bayfield Counties.

• Ashland Ski Association, Inc: $1,000 to support purchase of new grooming equipment for the upkeep of area ski trails.

• Cable Natural History Museum: $720 to support its Junior Naturalists program, Cross-Country Skiing Instruction program, and Snowshoe Family Saturdays program.

• Faith in Action-Ashland County: $1,045 to purchase and install support software and associated training, consultation and technical support.

• Mashkisibi Boys & Girls Club, Inc: $1,424 to implement a snowshoeing program for children ages kindergarten through 12th grade in the Odanah community.

• North Coast Community Sailing: $1,075 to cover costs for five participants in the 2006 NCCS outreach sailing program at Red Cliff.

• Women and Kids Outdoors: $800 for purchase of a banner and four pairs of adult snowshoes to support family snowshoe activities.
