Just a few days until Book Across the Bay!!
We’ve had a string of very cold days and nights recently and even a little snow a couple days ago. There is a chance of a little snow later this week as well.
Right now, the ice (thickness and strength) on Chequamegon Bay is in great shape. The course is snow-covered, but that cover is thin in spots. Our best prediction now is that the course will be snow covered but hard-packed and icy in spots. Conditions will be fast for skaters. We’ll do the best we can at setting track for striders, but we don’t have a lot of snow to work with, so striders may be looking at a good double-pole workout. Snowshoers will likely find very firm conditions, and unless we get a lot of snow in the next couple days, we will allow walkers out on the course.
If conditions change significantly from what is noted above, we will update this page again later in the week.
Safe travels to those of you driving up north for the event. See you Saturday!!
